My post-battle results aren't great, they're not really what's important here. I did not play terribly, but I've been out of practice and flubbed many of my drops.
I was divisioned up with my buddies in 2 DDs and communicating on Discord chat. Aside from some warm-up matches, both of them hadn't played in about a month, and then 2 years before that.
Our team took all 3 caps early on, but got shut down.
At 15:00, my Icarus buddy smacked a Kongo on the nose with single fire torps, but the Kongo smacked back harder and killed him.
At 12:15 or so, the team dropped like flies down to a 3 vs 7 but still with all 3 caps.
At 9:45, we lost A but had it back to a 3 vs 5.
At 7:05, I wiffed bomb drops on a sliver-of-health York taking B while my other DD buddy held down C and got smacked by the New York while getting torps off.
The CV and I that were left double teamed that New York.
About 6:00, my dead Icarus buddy advised me to move my CV since the enemy DD hadn't been seen for some time. Hardly had I done this, a spread of torps slid past the rear of my ship.
Getting nailed by the enemy CVs, I made knocking out the enemy DD my singular mission. Wiffed my bombs and torps. By now the points were 880(us):711(them). We could still maybe win this but they had all the caps now.
1:10 left, I smacked the DD with my last rocket strike as our CV (last ship) got into a secondary-range smack-fest with one of their 2 CVs left. The enemy CV might have gone for a ram, missed.
With seconds left, our friendly CV killed the enemy CV and pulled the points up to a 9-point difference... but it was still in the red team's favor. A nail-biter at the end we almost pulled back.
Not ashamed to have lost that, it was good fun, something which can be rare in WOWS. Playing with friends made all the change.
With my camo and the strike on the DD from beyond the grave, my buddies and I joked that my CV was the angry Chinese buffet; It'll come back to bite you.
